The Importance of HOPE
Workday Funday!
Aaaand Action!
This week was HOT! Literally (Thursday’s temp spiked at 38 deg C) AND we got to see the start of all the action at SAPS Fisantekraal.
The SAPS project has become very near to our hearts as we believe that a tough job CAN be made easier when you get good support. This includes (but is not limited to) support from your community as well as having a comfortable space to deliver the best that you can do!
I arrived on site Thursday morning to meet Stan and Figo from Flagpole SA already hard at work removing and repositioning the 2 flagpoles into their new home. Mense! The sweat was flying but they didn’t slow down. I then popped home to get a saw to cut a branch which could potentially have interfered with the new pole position, and we got rid of that! JOB 1 done!
In the meantime Willem and his team from Klipheuwel (a community close by) were hard at work removing the tiles and sanitary ware from the bathroom. Thankfully the amazing Victim Support Unit Team opened their facility to the SAPS staff to make use of their bathroom while we are busy. Thank you guys! This is what teamwork looks like! As I type this, the new bathroom is being installed and is going to look fabulous! The amazing people from Flow Bathrooms donated the sanitary ware AND tiles. Take a peek at the pics – its gorgeous!
I’ve been taking videos and pics of our progress, don’t forget to pop onto our socials to keep up to date.
Let’s be honest – every one of us has a need to be seen and appreciated. Ask yourself, when do I go above and beyond what I am asked to do? I know the answer is twofold – when I do what I love and when I feel appreciated. Secondly, we ALL make mistakes at some point. Let us choose to learn from our mistakes without lambasting ourselves or others in that process?
Ask any parent how hard it is to juggle work, family and life commitments – add to that, when your work is potentially life threatening and it’s no wonder that the SAPS staff stress levels can shoot through the roof! So next time you need to go to SAPS for something, take a moment to consider the person wearing the uniform. Mom, dad, brother, sister. Each one has their own story. How much better can we make each other’s lives -it just starts with a smile 😊
We estimate the cost for this project to be between R40 – R50k and we are halfway there! With your help we can finish off and make this little light in Fisantekraal to SHINE!!! Please share with your networks and become part of our Village.
